The Church-in-the-Park Northampton
The "Church-in-the-Park" is the local name for the Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul. This church is situated in Park Avenue South, Northampton, right in the centre of the beautiful Abington Park.
In the churchyard on the south side of the church there are 11 of the traditional Commonwealth War Graves together with 3 others and, inside the church there is a large First World War memorial and a smaller individual plaque related to the Falklands War.
On this page we shall eventually illustrate all of these memorials. In the cases of those in the churchyard the photographs will show the headstones at various times over a number of years.
The photographs come from an on-going collection made by the Grand Prior who regularly visits the churchyard and also conducts family history research into the lives and Armed Forces Service of the individuals named.
In addition, elsewhere in the Park's grounds there are some other memorials - a seat, a tree or the like - and these will also be shown here.
Obviously this is a long-term project so the page will be regularly updated.
